Fox Den was voted “Best Value Golf Course in NC” by NC Business Executives.
Fox Den Country Club is located on approximately 400 acres, including several tracts of land with deep rural roots. One section (approximately 150 acres) of the property was owned by the State of North Carolina for the purpose of a research farm for dairy cows. In the early 1950’s, the State moved the research center to Rowan County, where it is still in existence today, and sold the property to Allen Edmiston. The farm was home to beef cows from that time forward.
The original private owner was killed in 1975 in a tractor accident on the farm. In the late 1970’s, ownership changed hands to Richard Edmiston who later was instrumental in putting together a group of investors to move the Fox Den Country Club project forward.
Another portion of the project was also a dairy farm operation where members of the community bought milk on a regular basis. This farm later developed into a “truck farming” operation.
Plans began for Fox Den in the late 1980’s with fruition coming in October of 1996 with the opening of the 18-hole championship golf course. Beginnings of development followed the next year. Fox Den Country Club has since grown into a beautiful community and golf course, because of strong and persevering investors throughout the years. There are proposed plans for further development as we grow. Current owners include Udean and Nancy Burke of Burke Christian Tours, Phyllis Edmiston, Howard Miller, Lynn Goforth and Debbie Goforth.
